Prayer

Picture and Prayer Temptations of ChristTimothy SchmalzSee this and other sculptures on www.sculpturebytps.comThe artist believes that, just as art had the power to convert in mediaeval times when people couldn?t read the Bible, so contemporary art can have the power to convert, in an age when people don?t read the Bible. This life-size bronze takes the viewer on the journey of Jesus? temptations. The devil?s hand holds out stones to be changed into bread; at the top righty we see Jesus and the devil on a mountain top as they survey the world; and left of that we see them on the pinnacle of the temple. On the back of the piece is a depiction of the devil and hell. But the main theme is Jesus in prayer, having overcome the temptations and being ministered to by angels. Let us Pray in thanksgiving that God has shown, through the life of Jesus, that evil in this world can be defeated, through prayer and trust in the Father.Let us Pray for those who are burdened by the temptations and corruptions of this world and long for the strength to overcome their weakness.Let us Pray for those who are victims of corruption and of others? greed and violence; that there may be justice in sharing the resources of this world..Let us Pray for God?s grace in our own lives, that we may live faithfully; seeking no more than enough to satisfy our needs.
